Octaves - Continued

The next two shapes apply to the the highest 4 strings (high E, B, G and D).

The low note in this octave (distance) is on the 4th string, the high note is on the 2nd string. This shape works on the highest four strings.

This is a Form 4 pentatonic shape.


In this example, the low note in this octave is on the 3rd string, the high note is on the 1st string. This shape works on the lowest four strings.

This is a Form 4 pentatonic shape.



Every pair of notes has an interval relationship. The reason you can recognize a melody is that you recognize intervals, whether you are aware of it or not.
