These tracks can be valuable when you're trying to learn to play something fast. They give you a way to gradually, systematically increase your speed, and develop a great sense of steady time. Download the drum tracks in MP3 form, convert them to WAV files using software like CDex. Then, you can burn them to audio CD.
The drum parts are quartz-accurate, and playing with them for just a few weeks can do amazing things for your sense of time.
4-counts and 6-counts There are two sets of drum tracks at different tempos. The first set is based on a 4/4 rock beat. The second set is based on a 6/8 rock beat. Working with drum tracks burns the sound of a steady tempo into your memory. Before long, you develop a real sensitivity to any small changes in tempo.
Experiment! Using these tracks requires a little imagination. You have to make some creative decisions.
It's up to you to decide how fast you want to play something, and how you want to synchronize it with a drum beat. Between all of the tempos you have to choose from, you should be able to find a beat that is comfortable. With a little experimenting, you'll fall right in.
