Example 9   Beginning With A Fretted Note & Crossing To A Fretted String   This is the first example to begin with a fretted note, and the first to cross to a fretted string. Instead of:

'Pick - Place - Pick - Remove'

Now, we're using:

'Place - Pick - Remove - Pick'

Watch the video, then play the notes in order by yourself a couple of times. Some people have trouble with this example the first time they try it. Take a minute to get used to this new technique, and it gets easier from there. This example is played on the highest two strings (E and B).

1 -- Place your finger on the high string at the 3rd fret.

2 -- Pick the high string. Let the note ring for a moment.

3 -- Remove your finger from the string.

4 -- Pick the open high string. Let this note ring for a moment.

5 -- Place your finger on the 2nd string at the 3rd fret.

6 -- Pick the 2nd string. Let the note ring for a moment.

7 -- Remove your finger from the string.

8 -- Pick the open 2nd string. Let this note ring for a moment.

9 -- Place your finger on the 3rd string at the 2nd fret.

10 -- Pick the 3rd string. Let the note ring for a moment.

11 -- Remove your finger from the string.

12 -- Pick the open 3rd string. Let this note ring for a moment.

Play along with the video demonstration.
